The LivingStones to Perform at Michigan District, LCMS Youth Gatherings3 min read

The LivingStones are four ordinary guys with an incredible passion for music. They consider it a privilege to spend their time interacting with their fans and worshiping God. Beginning as a youth group band in 2006 at their home congregation, Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Birmingham, Mich., The LivingStones now travel around Michigan leading worship, playing for chapel services and school assemblies, and leading lock-ins. They have also been a part of youth gatherings in Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and Tennessee. They’ve also had the privilege of leading worship at a Mission camp in Mexicali, Mexico, and performed at The Big Ticket Festival.

This summer, The LivingStones are scheduled to perform at two Michigan District, LCMS youth gatherings. More than just musicians, these four young men have a heart for God and His people. Here’s a glimpse into the heart bass player, Alex Pineau.

“I never dreamed that the band would be where it is today. When we first started back in 7th grade, it was just another thing to do. I liked to play music, but it never went deeper than that. Sometime later, I started to notice how addicted I was to music; the effect that it had on me was incredible. I loved listening to music at any possible time. When I listened to music, it is more than lyrics and a chord progression; it enveloped me in a particular emotion, depending on the song, and drove me.

Over the past few years I have been so blessed to be able to play in so many different places and meet so many people. What made these events so incredible, regardless of size, is the connection we were able to make with some of the people. Whether it is on or off stage, you can develop a relationship with a person that really connects on a deep level. All you have to do is open up to them, whether it’s through music or conversation. If after a set someone comes up and says that a certain song really hit them, it means so much to us as a band. That is why we do what we do; we want to make those connections with people. Hearing that drives us and motivates us just like music does when we listen to it.

On top of all of that, the icing on the cake, aside from being able to play music with my best friends while traveling the US and meeting so many people, is doing it all for God. We are able to do what we do because of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. Because of this, we are able to celebrate a God that loved us so much that He made us able to have these moments created through music and relationships.”
