Christmas came just a little early for the students of Peace Lutheran School in Saginaw, Mich. They now have their own school pastor.
Rev. Matthew J. Hauser was ordained and installed on December 18, 2016. Hauser has served as Director of Discipleship since 2013. Because Peace Lutheran Church and School is spread between two campuses, a pastor to serve families specifically at the school has been a longtime goal.
Hauser’s ordination comes at a time when Peace—which also currently serves children ages 3-4 in its Early Childhood program—just recently approved plans to add onto Peace School and expand its childcare offerings to include infants and toddlers.
Hauser sees the upcoming school expansion as a vital ministry opportunity and service to this community.
“We will now have the opportunity to reach families at an influential time, when they have young children, even infants,” he said. “The primary teacher of any child is a parent. I want to equip them by walking right alongside them.”
He is the sixth generation of Hauser men to become an ordained pastor or missionary through the LCMS. You can read more of Rev. Hauser’s compelling story at peacesaginaw.org/ordination.
