Sharing Christ in Daily Lessons2 min read

For as long as I can remember, I have always had the desire to be a teacher. I have memories of playing “school” with my baby dolls when I was a young girl. I even declared at my Kindergarten graduation that, “When I grow up, I want to be a teacher.” I honestly cannot remember a time when I wanted to be anything else but a teacher. I pursued my aspiration at Concordia University, Ann Arbor. I realized that I was indeed following the right career path when I undoubtedly enjoyed all of my education classes and working in the classroom with children.

However, I did not just desire to be a teacher—I desired to be a Lutheran teacher. I remember thinking that it would be impossible for me to teach without including Christ in my daily lessons. I love the Lord and He is a part of my life, so I wanted to share my love for Jesus with the children. I feel honored and privileged that I am able to do this on a daily basis at Christ The King Lutheran School in Southgate.

I am confident that I will always enjoy working in a Lutheran school because I love kids. Children bring me joy! I delight in seeing how they grow and change. I also have the honor of having a mom who is a Lutheran teacher. Each and every day she radiates her love for Jesus and for children in and out of the classroom. Her example, along with other wonderful Lutheran teachers in my life, surely has also inspired my passion for teaching in a Lutheran school. I am thankful to God every day for the opportunity that I have.
