Rural Robotics2 min read

At Trinity Lutheran School in Conklin, Mich. we are committed to excellence. Since God the Father gave His very best to us in His Son Jesus, we find ourselves incredibly inspired to educate in the most excellent way in order to bring honor to Him!

It has been my observation that many think that there is a great divorce between science and God. As though if you are into science then you cannot possibly also have a strong and abiding faith in the One who created science.

Debunking that faulty thinking is one reason we are committed to having exceptional K-5 science education at Trinity. This year our science curriculum has expanded to include robotics, which we have affectionately named “Rural Robotics” since Trinity is situated in a rural fruit farming community.

The introduction of “cubelets” is our first step in the robotics program. For more information about the amazing potential these little gadgets have in fostering critical thinking, scientific discovery, and quite frankly sheer delight in science class, take a look at this video.

While we engage the brain cells of our students by exploring the capabilities of these pre-programmed cubes, we also are able to stretch and nurture the faith of our students as they discover how God created them very differently! While robots can only do what they are programed to do, Our Heavenly Father bestowed the gift of free will on each of us! We also are able to discern that, while robots are fascinating, God is more fascinating by far! Even the most amazing robot is limited by what it is programmed to do; God, who created science and all things, has no such limitation!

Help Trinity Win a Robotics Grant!

Trinity Lutheran School is in the running for a grant to fund its new Rural Robotics program. We need your help! We are the only Michigan school in the running and we’re surrounded by apple growers so what better opportunity to cash in on some Michigan apple pride? All you have to do is snap a photo of yourself enjoying a delicious apple and upload it to the contest website or post it to Instagram with the caption “I’m voting for @trinitylutheranconklin and #RuralRobotics to win #apples4ed”. You can vote as often as you like! Tell your friends and help us show the world just how cool Michigan apples and Trinity Lutheran School are. Thanks!
