Worship gatherings are central to the life and health of the Christian congregation. These gatherings reflect the congregation’s identity for themselves and to the community she is called to serve with the Gospel. During times of pastoral transition, the Intentional Interim Pastor enables the congregation to examine, evaluate, and seek God’s guidance regarding the role of corporate worship in their lives together as brothers and sisters in Christ, and its effect on their witness to the community (ministry context). We will examine what Peter Prochnow calls “community messengers” and how their appropriate use in worship can be used by the Holy Spirit to better communicate the life-transforming Gospel as they serve the powerful presence of God through His Word and Sacraments.
A note regarding masks during the COVID-19 pandemic: The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has provided mask guidance that flexes based on three key COVID-19 phases (response, recovery, and readiness). The Michigan District will follow any mask mandates by the MDHHS, local health departments, or venues that are in place at the time of an event or conference. Masks are generally available at the registration desk. If you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms of COVID prior to arrival, please stay home.
