Opportunity to Bless Others During the Michigan District Convention2 min read

In support of the Michigan District Critical Targets, specifically Great Compassion Ministry, the Michigan District Convention has partnered with the Flint Mission Network (FAM – Franklin Avenue Mission/YAM – York Avenue Mission/Mercy House/The Luke Clinic).

Flint Mission Network aims to proclaim the Gospel, empower neighbors, and lift one another up. They accomplish these goals by offering compassionate care, skill-developing programs, and Gospel-centered teaching.

Franklin Avenue Mission aims to be the hands, the feet, the face, and the voice of Jesus on Flint’s East Side. They provide nutritious meals and an opportunity for fellowship at the Franklin Avenue Diner. Other services provided by FAM are: Custodial training program; Clean & Green (blight removal); Personals Closet (for hygiene items); Upper Room (worship services every Sunday); Belong (6-month journey through Luther’s Small Catechism); and a Laundromat (coming in 2022) and Daycare (coming in 2023).

Originally formed as Our Savior Lutheran Church, York Avenue Mission has been a beacon of hope of Flint’s North Side for almost a hundred years. Together with the Flint Mission Network, they look forward to continuing their call to love God and serve their neighbor, which they currently do through a weekly food pantry for the community.

The Luke Clinic’s mission is to promote the health and wellbeing of the local population by providing accessible, high-quality medical care for expectant mothers and infants under 12 months of age. They are committed to providing accessible, relationship-based services that will exceed the expectations of their patients and their communities, resulting in an effective great compassion and great commission ministry.

Mercy House, which operates in partnership with Wellspring Lutheran Services, is a long-term transitional housing ministry, aimed at equipping mothers with the skills they need to physically care and financially provide for their families in healthy, sustainable ways. Both the Luke Clinic and Mercy House are located on the FAM campus.
