  • Genesis and the Culture War – Ken Ham explores the impact of the Reformation and calls us to consider a new Reformation, one that focuses on the Authority of Scripture and building the right structure/foundation for the next generation.
  • The Age of the Earth and the Decline of the Church – Ken Ham dives into what the Bible says about a Six Day Creation and explores its relevance for today. Ham also shares alarming views of Creation that are held by several modern theologians.
  • Genesis and Communicating the Gospel – Ken Ham shares why he believes it’s critical share the Gospel by starting at the very beginning of the Bible. He presents the case of building the proper foundation for a discussion with peers. If Genesis is disregarded, don’t be surprised if the rest of the Bible gets called into question.
  • One Race, One Blood – Ken Ham explains the how all races and cultures descended from Adam and Eve. He explains what “Kinds” in Genesis refers to, while encouraging us to look past the genetics and look at the person in front us instead.
  • North American Cultural Foundations – Rev. Dr. Anthony (Tony) Cook explores key American values and reveals findings on what our society deems as morally acceptable. Cook then offers insights into methods and approaches that can be utilized in order to “gain a hearing for the Gospel” in today’s culture.
  • Marital Foundations – Deaconess Heidi Goehmann – We all want better marriages – let’s define “Better.” Deaconess Heidi Goehmann offers insight into often used definitions. She also lays out five marriage foundations: safe, good, help needed, passion, broken & restored. She encourages us to look more closely at how those foundations can be experienced in “better” marriages.
  • Family Catechesis – Dr. Dave Rueter presents new cultural norms and shows how society has shifted several definitions of identity. He shares his experience as a father, and presents the concept of faith modeling with evidence showing the importance of warming and affirming relationships, parental religious involvement, and parental consistency and warmth.
  • Panel Discussion
  • Foundations for Worker Care – Built on Solid Group – Jim Sanft looks at the foundations for worker care by diving into the early church (Acts 6), talking about the formation of our church body, and finally details the challenges and opportunities that are ahead of us in the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.

Ken Ham
President and CEO of Answers in Genesis
Ken Ham Bio The president and CEO of Answers in Genesis, a ministry that has over 700 full-time and part-time staff and comprises the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America. This includes being a keynote speaker at the prestigious National Religious Broadcasters convention (2016) and filling the pulpit of many influential churches over the years. He appears frequently on American TV and hosts the daily radio program, “ANSWERS with Ken Ham,” heard on more than 900 stations in America. Ken is one of the editors and contributing authors for AiG’s Answersmagazine, an award-winning biblical worldview publication with over 70,000 worldwide subscribers. Ham, a native Australian who now lives near Cincinnati, is a prominent blogger and the author of numerous books on the accuracy and authority of the Bible, starting with its very first verse.

Rev. Dr. Tony Cook
Director of United States Ministries for Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM)

Dr. Cook provides leadership and operational management of the direction, strategies, and initiatives for the U.S. Ministries Division. Cook brings 22 years in ministry experience to LHM, including 17 years in curriculum design and development, distance curricula, educational technology, and leadership. His background includes serving as a parish pastor and consulting numerous Christian entities on curriculum design and development, Synchronous distance learning, Internet technologies, and sharing the Gospel through various forms of multimedia.

Deaconess Heidi Goehmann
Deaconess Heidi Goehmann is a licensed social worker and mental healthcare provider, a writer, speaker, wife, mom, and a forgiven and loved child of God. She received her deaconess certification, as well as her B.A. in Theology and Psychology, from Concordia University Chicago. She earned her M.A in Social Work from the University of Toledo with an emphasis on children, families, and social justice. Heidi has worked in a variety of clinical and ministry settings. She is the founder of I Love My Shepherd Ministries (ilovemyshepherd.com), which provides resources to get women in the Word, strengthen marriages, and broaden our understanding of mental health. Heidi serves The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in the areas of church worker wellness and church revitalization. Heidi’s passions include her husband, David, her 4 kids, red wine, dark chocolate, Jesus, Star Wars, and new ideas … not necessarily in that order.

Dr. Dave Rueter
Dr. Dave Rueter has been a DCE for nearly two decades, serving churches in California and Texas. Dave is the Director of the DCE Program at Concordia University Irvine as well as the Youth & Family Ministry Facilitator for the Pacific Southwest District. He is the author of Teaching the Faith at Home (CPH) as well as the forthcoming Building Faith at Home (Creative Communications for the Parish). In addition, Dr. Rueter contributed a chapter for Current Challenges and Perspectives of Confirmation in Lutheran Churches in Slovakia and the USA as well as a forthcoming text on youth ministry from the LCMS Youth Ministry Office. Dave is married and has two sons.

Jim Sanft
President and Chief Executive Officer
James F. (Jim) Sanft has served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Concordia Plan Services since 2008, having joined the organization in 1999. An active leader in the church benefits community, Sanft serves on the Board of Directors of the Church Benefits Association and is Vice Chair of the Church Alliance (the Church Alliance is an organization comprised of the CEOs of 37 denominational benefit programs representing the interests of church plans in Washington, DC). Sanft has a B.S. in Education from Concordia University Nebraska, Seward and a M.S. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). Prior to joining CPS, Sanft worked as an actuary for Minnesota Life in St. Paul, Minn. and for Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. in Lincoln, Neb. He began his professional career as a mathematics and computer science teacher at Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.
