What is Parish Nursing?
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 NIV).
Congregational Health Ministries/Parish Nursing is a ministry committed to promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being as part of the Christian stewardship of the whole person. There are over 60 congregations with active health ministries in the Michigan District.
- Parish Nurses can offer physical, emotional, and spiritual care for the members of a congregation. They can also lift some of the burden from a Pastor by doing visitations.
- A Parish Nurse understands and promotes the relationship between faith and health and is uniquely qualified to assist in this area.
- Parish Nurses empower people with information and resources to help congregations members make wise healthcare decisions.
