“And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’” (1 Kings 19:9b).
Elijah’s experience with God at Horeb encourages us to remember that even when we feel weak, alone, or discouraged by our own shortcomings and circumstances, God nourishes us with the quiet strength of His Gospel. Through His Word and Sacraments, He works to restore and send us forward. Truly, He nourishes us for our lifelong journey of faith.
Created for use during adult Bible class prior to the Michigan District Convention in June, this Bible study will walk your congregation through Elijah’s relationship with God in 1 Kings 19. Take a Sunday in May or early June to review this special 25-minute Bible study video and discussion guide. Dr. Walter A. Maier III will bring insights, comfort, and enduring truths from the life of Elijah to show how God works so that we are Nourished for the Journey.
