“We are thriving, yet, we are dying.” Those words were spoken to describe the stock market. They are also a profound descriptor of many local churches in 2025. Rather than treading water, or continuing the trend, we can adjust our activity to operate more efficiently so that we can be about the mission of Jesus.

Rev. Scott Giger
Scott Giger is senior pastor of Cornerstone Lutheran Church, a large, multisite congregation in the Indianapolis, Ind. area. He did his doctoral study at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in multisite ministry. Scott is an avid Boston Red Sox fan, loves to cook, and has about a 25 handicap (That’s not good.) Scott is married to Kate and they have three children, Emma, Andrew, and Micah, and one incredibly passive dog named Fenway.

Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper
Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper presently serves as the Director of Leadership Development for the Michigan District, LCMS. Prior to joining the Michigan District staff in 2012, Kasper served nearly 30 years as a parish pastor in suburban St. Louis, Mo. and Detroit, Mich. He serves as the Facilitator for Transitional Interim Ministry in the Michigan District. He continues to read extensively in the areas of Systems Theory, Leadership, and Adaptive Missions for the Church in the Post-modern/Post-Christian era. Kasper and his wife Debbie live in Ypsilanti, Mich. They have four grown children and ten grandchildren.
