DESCRIPTION:Do we live in such a way that people are curious about what motivates us to live distinctively different lives? And if they did ask us\, would we be prepared to give an account of the hope that is within us? \nDon’t miss our Congregational Ministry Summit that will help you both be better enabled to live a life that evokes questions and be better prepared to give an account of that inner hope in Christ. \nOur theme verse is 1 Peter 3:15 “… but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy\, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” \n\nAs we prepare for the Michigan District-LCMS Congregational Ministry Summit and Michigan LLL’s Lutheran Hour Rally Worship Service\, January 31 and February 1\, 2026\, respectively\, with Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler (Lutheran Hour Speaker) as keynote speaker\, be encouraged to engage with an excellent Bible study provided by Lutheran Hour Ministries entitled Patient Urgency. DESCRIPTION:The Michigan District Board of Directors (BOD) is pleased to facilitate a Listening and Synergy event for the North and East Region. In an ongoing effort to connect more effectively with our congregations\, the BOD has been inviting congregation members to get to know the Board and understand its function. Past events have presented information about the BOD and outlined what resources are available to our member congregations from the District. \nIn this meeting\, we are asking congregations to share some brief stories of their successes (and not-so successes)\, that we all might learn from them and generate ideas on how to more effectively spread the good news of the Gospel. The BOD would like to pass along these stories so that we may better serve the District. \nPlease join us at St. Lorenz\, Frankenmuth for an evening of Christian brotherhood and discussion.

SUMMARY:Best Practices Heartland - CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:A best practice for ministry is to be both optimistic and realistic – and to discern the difference between the two. Our Best Practices Heartland 2020 planning team\, while filled with optimism\, has arrived at what we believe to be a realistic acknowledgement of the inevitable. We have therefore determined that it is in everyone’s best interest to announce today that the 2020 conference will not be able to take place. \nOur team has a profound sense of disappointment about this and was extremely reluctant to reach this decision\, but we have absolutely no confidence that the governor of Michigan will open up our state to the degree that would be necessary to host even a scaled-down conference. \nCanceling now allows our school to put those days back into their educational calendar. That will be especially helpful this year. In addition\, local hotels and caterers can readjust their schedules and conference presenters and attendees should have adequate time to do the same. \nWe also discussed the potential for some kind of virtual conference\, but quickly came to the conclusion that one of the greatest benefits of Best Practices conferences is the mutual encouragement and support that can come only through face-to-face contact. We are hoping that the great line-up of plenary and break-out presenters that were scheduled for this year will be able to join us next year. \nAs we are able to determine dates and speakers for 2021\, we will be sure to share that information. \nWe continue to pray for all who are engaged in any kind of ministry in the Lord’s church and encourage you to also pray unceasingly for both the Phoenix conference scheduled for February and Best Practices Heartland 2021.
