Special Friends Camp

An event for adult individuals (age 18 and older) with cognitive disabilities

Special Friends Camp is an event for adult individuals (age 18 and older) with cognitive disabilities. The purpose of this event is three-fold:

1.  to share about our most special friend, Jesus;
2.  to provide an experience that participants do not usually encounter the rest of the year;
3.  to give caregivers a break from daily responsibilities.

Our Special Friends, each with their own unique set of abilities and challenges, travel across the state to attend the camp held at Camp Copneconic, a YMCA camp located in Fenton, Michigan (just south of Flint).

Special Friends Summer Camp is a 5-day/4-night event where campers get to enjoy…

  • Swimming
  • Horseback Riding
  • Archery
  • Talent Shows
  • and more.

Some people tend to think of our participants by what they cannot do, but we like to think of our Special Friends by what they CAN DO! Each participant is a gift from God. It is our JOY AND PRIVILEDGE to offer these experiences to these wonderful individuals.

Registration information and forms for this summer’s camp will be sent out in April. For more information regarding Special Friends events, please view our brochure or contact Debbie Hughes at 888.225.2111 ext. 234.
