Pause, take a moment and reflect. Breathe slowly and deep. Set aside the troubles of today and move into a posture of worship and peace. Not worshiping ourselves, what we can accomplish and achieve—for this cannot bring us everlasting peace. There is one, and only One who is to be the center of our worship and the source of peace—our Triune God—the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As proclaimed in Revelation 4:8:

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Yes, our God is holy, pure, mighty, and everlasting. The object of our worship and the source of our peace. Our God is the source of all that was, all that is, and all that will be. Our God is the creator. As the twenty-four elders in heaven cast their crowns before the Father and decreed:

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created”

(Revelation 4:11)

As we reflect, consider how we came into existence. Our God desires us. Our God spoke and created us. His breath of life sustains all of creation. Our creator is worthy of our worship!

But we are not worthy to worship in the presence of our God. Our sin and rebellion separate us from His glory. Fear not! Our God is mighty! The Father redeems us through the suffering of the Son. This precious Lamb of God was offered as a sacrifice to reconcile us, once and for all time, with God. With our sin cast upon the Lamb of God, we are made righteous in His sight! The impure is made pure, the sinner is justified. Our redeemer, the Son is forever worthy of our worship and adoration—for He has restored us to the Father!

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth

and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” (Revelation 5:12).

Stop and rest in silence. Ponder the wonders of our God. His love brings peace. His suffering restores hope. His rule is forever. The Father is on His Throne; the Son is at His Right Hand:

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb

be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13)

Amen!
