On Friday, May 1, 2020, Megan Schultz was installed at Bethany, Detroit as the Family Life Minister at Large for Acts 2 Enterprise Detroit. It was a blessing to be able to install her, even under extraordinary circumstances related to the Coronavirus pandemic (see photo gallery below).

Megan, a 2015 Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA) graduate, has deep roots in Detroit. She grew up in a close-knit family and attended St. Paul, Royal Oak and Lutheran High Northwest in Rochester Hills. Megan has two siblings and shares that her parents taught them the faith in the context of daily life. Her grandfather, the late Lloyd Schultz, and grandmother Pat Schultz are credited with being some of the biggest role models for her ministry.

Through her years in the CUAA Family Life Ministry program, Megan was taught to work alongside lay leaders and pastors to explore meaningful ways of engaging the whole family in faith-filled events that integrate them into the larger body of Christ. This is especially valuable in this time of quarantine when families are at home rather than in church buildings.

Megan served her internship with churches, schools, and organizations in inner-city St. Louis, Mo. Being back in Detroit and working in an urban ministry setting has been a lifelong goal of hers.

Megan will be partnering with Detroit Lutheran Churches in the role of Family Life Minister, reaching families in new ways to accomplish the biblical goal of making disciples. This task will always be evolving to adapt to the different needs and strengths of urban congregations. God has richly blessed His Church in Detroit, and she cannot wait to partner with it to bring the transformative Gospel to all.

Congratulations and welcome, Megan!
