A Reminder to Come to Jesus1 min read

To celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week, we have collected devotions written by elementary school children. The following was written by a student named Griffin from Our Shepherd Lutheran School in Birmingham.

Invocation – We open this day in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

One day my mom and I went to Petco to be volunteers. When we got there, one of their cats was on the loose. It was Graham Cracker, who was usually an obedient cat. The last time we were there I fed him. He loved me and I loved him.

I think he remembered me, because as soon as he saw me, he came out from under the shelf he was hiding under, trotted right up to me and sat in front of me. This reminded me that I need to always come to Jesus because He loves me just like I love Graham Cracker. When I went home I decided to read my Bible and learn more about Jesus.

Matthew 20:28, “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life in ransom for many.”

Prayer – Dear God, Thank you for this body and life and all I need to support it. You give me food and drink, clothes and shoes, a family, land, and animals. Thank you for protecting me every day. Amen.
