Our offerings are an act of worship. The offering during the worship service provides believers the opportunity to respond in gratitude to the grace, love, and mercy of God and to put their faith and trust in the Lord into action. The offering to God each Sunday is an act of worship just like confessing the Creed, singing the hymns, hearing the sermon, and engaging in prayer. The following Bible verses will provide encouragement for your members to give and will help them grow in their understanding of biblical stewardship.
It is suggested that you intersperse Old Testament and New Testament verses throughout the year. The following list provides a large number of giving verses, but it is not an exhaustive list. Hopefully, you will over time add more verses to this list.
Here is a suggestion for use in the bulletin folder:

I have had my doubts lately that the collection of offerings during the church service is unacceptable. I feel that money should not be handled in the church. If you give an offering before close of service it feels as if you are paying for the message delivered by the pastor. Dropping it in an offering box before entering the church seems like paying an entrance fee. I regurarly give my tithe as well as a an extra amount for missions. Is offerings during the service really necessary? The answer that you give an offering in answer to the message from God and as a consecration also do not convince me. Is offering during church services really necassary?
Response from Rev. Dr. Richard J. Wolfram
The short answer is that Christians follow the example of God’s people throughout the Old Testament who brought their tithes and offering into the storehouse. One example of this is from Malachi 3:10 where God says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.” Storehouse refers to the treasury rooms of the Lord’s temple.”
Christians today bring their tithes and offerings for the Lord to the local storehouse where they are fed on Word and Sacrament. Weekly, when the body of Christ gathers at their local storehouse, they receive God’s gifts of Word and Sacrament and offer their sacrificial gifts of worship and praise and thanksgiving. That is inclusive of their tithes and offerings. These are all given to the Lord in worship of Him and in response for His blessings. Collectively, these gifts are used for the Lord’s work in and through that storehouse. Part of that work is the support of His workers.
Other than bringing offerings to the Lord in His house as an act of worship I am not aware of where else I would offer them.

Praise the Lord dear man of God? May I know what time is appropriate for offerings? Is it before, within or after praise and worship? Thank you may God bless you so much!
Offerings are received as an act of worship to the Lord. As such, they are appropriate at any time during worship. In today’s pandemic world they are received before or after formal worship as people enter or depart. They are also received from online formats and acknowledged during worship. Within the liturgy of the Church the offering is traditionally received after the general prayers. The when of the offerings reception is not critical. Please remember that the offering is a sacrificial gift to the Lord received from the giver and not collected or taken. The congregation receiving those gifts uses them for the ministry of the family of believers in that place.

I thank God through my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for powerful verses about offering and tithes. I have no doubt that these verses will significantly change my perception about offerings and I pray to the Almighty that Lord, if you are willing take away my misunderstanding about offerings and make me a cheerful giver. To the author, I have nothing to give you but simply pray for the blessings of the almighty to be upon you and your family. Thank you very much.

I know this is an older blog post but just came across it in searching Bible verses for a Sunday School lesson – fyi I love the scripture cartoon illustrations. Those should be mandatory in the church bulletin!
I like Matthew 6:25 from the Message (paraphrase) “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body.”
