DESCRIPTION:“Abide in me\, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself\, unless it abides in the vine\, neither can you\, unless you abide in me.  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him\, he it is that bears much fruit\, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:4–5 ESV). \nAbide. It seems simple: not working\, not doing\, not planning\, not preparing\, not teaching\, not preaching\, not organizing\, not leading … just abiding. Simple\, yet hard. When was the last time you had the opportunity or took the time to abide with Jesus—to be nourished\, encouraged\, forgiven\, strengthened\, and filled … by Him? During our PCWC 23\, we will abide … as we worship together\, receive together\, and laugh together. We will celebrate and challenge one another—not only in the sharing of new ideas for ministry\, but sharing a way of being and doing life and ministry together in Jesus! Under the theme Love Talks: Daring Conversations Toward Reconciliation\, the 2024 Theological Conference is designed especially for laity of all ages. The conference\, which will take place on February 3 in Lansing\, will equip you to engage in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18). \nThe world around us needs us to engage with others in the ministry of reconciliation\, both with people and with God. At the very heart of all reconciliation is the Word Himself\, the Word made flesh\, Jesus. \nLet’s get started with daring conversations of reconciliation. After all\, love talks.

SUMMARY:Extending the Shepherd’s Reach: Spiritual Care in the Congregation
DESCRIPTION:Although the role of elder often varies from congregation to congregation\, we consistently see the biblical emphasis on spiritual leadership demonstrated in practical ways by spiritually mature followers of Jesus. This training event is designed for pastors and their lay leaders who have been identified as spiritual leaders in their respective congregations and therefore have been elected or appointed to serve as elders–extensions of the pastoral office for the care and nurturing of God’s people. This is important work and a high calling from God through His Church.\n\n\n  \n\nElders will want to be well prepared and continually growing in relationship to Jesus Christ\, the Lord of the Church\, and in effective service to His people with their pastor. This workshop will help them do just that.
