DESCRIPTION:Lutherans! Let’s love on Detroit! \nThe week of June 23-29 is going to be one of the busiest for Camp Restore Detroit (CRD) this summer. The Michigan District is helping recruit hundreds of volunteers to serve in all the areas that are asking for the camp’s assistance. \nAre you interested in a mission trip but do not want to travel far? At CRD\, there are opportunities for all ages to serve in VBS\, one sports camp\, construction\, and urban blight clean-up. You can restore hope in Detroit’s 9th Precinct by serving individually\, as a family\, or as a church group! CRD’s mission is to demonstrate Christian Hope while working together to restore the Detroit Community. Campers have found that joining the CRD community in service is rewarding in many ways. \nCampers can stay overnight in dormitory-like housing or commute. You can work one or more days or all week–whatever works best for you! \nWe still need 35 volunteers for our VBS/Sports Camps! \nVolunteer Today!

DESCRIPTION:Jesus says\, “and you will know the truth\, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). We live in a world where each individual philosophy is dropping “truth bombs:” from hair to food; from clothing to identity. It is not that young people have no truths—it is that they are faced with thousands of them. All these “truths” compete for their minds\, their bodies\, and even their souls. To further complicate life\, Christianity is often reduced to a list of do’s and don’ts. The Truth that gives freedom—Christ’s work on the Cross and His resurrection for us—is our starting point. This May\, Jr. High students and the adults that care for them will come together in Frankenmuth to receive from Jesus and abide in his Word. Jesus for you! He is the #TRUTH that gives freedom.

SUMMARY:West Pastors' Conference 2019
DESCRIPTION:“Hi\, my name is Pastor _______ and I’ve lost my knowledge of Greek and Hebrew.” Given the demands of the ministry\, keeping the use of the original languages intact is a definite challenge. Yet as Luther says\, “Let us zealously hold to the languages … God caused his Scriptures to be set down [in Hebrew and Greek] … We will not long preserve the gospel without the languages. The languages are the sheath in which this sword of the Spirit is contained” (AE 45:359). This conference will provide an opportunity for pastors to get together—not to be berated but to endeavor to revitalize our use of the biblical languages in the ministry. To lead us through this challenge\, Dr. James Voelz and Dr. Paul Raabe will provide us with tips\, tools\, and strategies for reinvigorating and honing this particular task of the exegete and preacher.

SUMMARY:The Katie 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Katie—a Michigan District conference for the wives and widows of pastors\, deacons\, and vicars—seeks to uplift the women God has chosen to be His hands and heart to the men He has called into the ministry. While these women carry a unique set of burdens\, they also enjoy some amazing and abundant blessings. The Katie is a celebration of those blessings and a support for those burdens. \nThe theme for 2019 is “Under the Mighty Hand of God\,” based on 1 Peter 5:6–11. God calls us to humility\, casting of anxiety\, sober-mindedness\, and watchfulness. Alone we cannot do this; all too frequently we find ourselves arrogantly holding onto burdens while numbing ourselves with the idle distractions of the world. In God we are restored\, strengthened\, confirmed\, and established. This year we will take time to further study Jesus as He washes the feet of His disciples; Shadrach\, Meshach\, and Abednego and their experience in the face of opposition; John the Baptist’s ability to remain sober-minded in a tumultuous time; and we will explore what the Apostle John would have us learn about being watchful in regards to the End Times. Our study will seek to see how God has and continues to restore\, strengthen\, confirm\, and establish His people.
