Too often in today’s world, we treat meals in a transactional way, simply as a means of getting fuel into our bodies to move on to the next activity. It can happen to all of us on occasion, but when we do this habitually, something vital, something God-given, gets lost. Meals are a significant way to build and maintain community. In our time together, Rev. Whitby will lead us in reflection in three areas of focus:
- What is going on today for the Church and in our world that challenges our witness of the Gospel.
- Practical ways of reimagining our homes and our tables for Christian hospitality.
- Share how a view of meals in the Scripture, as drawn from his book, can provide a biblical grounding for our meals today.

Rev. Kristopher R. Whitby
Rev. Kris Whitby served for 24 years as a parish pastor in Florida and Illinois. He also served as the Northern Illinois District (NID)’s North Region Vice President (2013–2020) and has, since 2020, served the NID as Assistant to the President – Mission and Ministry. Whitby has been blessed to host the radio talk show Faith Talks. In March of 2025, his new book, At Table with Jesus, was released with CPH.
