Making Christmas Special for At-Risk Children1 min read

Many children in Southeastern Michigan are growing up in poverty. And many are growing up without knowing who Jesus is and why we celebrate Christmas. This year, Gifts For All God’s Children will provide Christmas gifts to over 3,300 of these at-risk children in Southeastern Michigan and, for the first time, in Flint because of the partnership with St. Lorenz, Frankenmuth. Many children will receive gifts from an individual who has bought and wrapped the gifts for that specific child. The remaining children (about 1,200 this year) will receive gifts through the Christmas workshop located at Living Word Lutheran Church in Rochester Hills.

The Christmas workshop is supported by donations of new clothing and toys as well as monetary gifts and is 100% volunteer-operated. During the first 3 weeks in December, volunteers select and wrap gifts for a specific child and then prepare these gifts for delivery. Most of the gifts are given out at Christmas parties and church services so that the children can be told the true meaning of Christmas and experience the unconditional and unmerited grace of God as they receive their gifts.
