Sharing the Gospel With NASCAR Fans1 min read

Despite the rain and a last-minute location change, the Sunrise Worship Service took place on Sunday, June 9, at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn, Mich. Many thanks to Rev. Norm Koy who shared the message “It’s all About the Finish Line;” the praise band from Redeemer, Jackson that led worshippers in song; and St. Mark’s, Brooklyn members who carried out area publicity. Race car driver Corey LeJoie also shared his short testimony with those in attendance in this unconventional worship setting.

As of last year, MIS was the final NASCAR race track to provide worship services on race day. In 2018, the District stepped into this role. The two worship services were designed to serve race fans and $5 from all District group tickets sales went to the Here We Stand campaign “Innovative Missional Ministry” towards Acts 2 Enterprise ministries that serve individuals in urban areas of Michigan.

The funds raised will touch lives through Bethany, Detroit; Charity, Detroit; Family of God, Detroit; Luke Project 52 Clinic, Detroit; Outer Drive Faith, Detroit; Pan de Vida, Detroit; Camp Restore Detroit; Benton Harbor Lutheran Outreach, Benton Harbor; Franklin Avenue Mission, Flint; and St. Paul Community, Pontiac.
